Nike We Run Manila Finisher Item

After 5 months, I finally received my finisher item from Nike We Run Manila! It's late but it's alright, at least they still managed to deliver the item.

Takbo Para Sa Banahaw - Second Edition

Earlier this morning, we leveled-up our regular weekend race/run. We joined Takbo para sa Banahaw (Part 2) event held at Lucban, Quezon. Too bad only four members of Team Titans were able to join this race. Karen and I registered for 24k, Rusell ran for Lily's 12k kit and Jervin doing a 6k.

We arrived at Lucena past 11pm last night via JAC Liner Bus. We stayed at Orenas Inn located at the town proper of Lucban.  The place is near the starting line for all the categories which is the SLSU Campus.

My unofficial time is 2:32 and ranked 24 based on the  number given upon crossing the finish line.

Thoughts on the race:
  1. Super challenging route, rolling hills everywhere!
  2. Hydration stations are too far from each other. They only serve water on hydration stations.
  3. No kilometer markers, only turnaround point for all the distances.
  4. Gunstart for 24km started late.
  5. Nice nature view for the run.
  6. Medal (nice except the itchy lace)
  7. Massage for 24km finishers...two thumbs up!
  8. There are also raffle items for runners.
After the race, we have our breakfast at Sevilla's restaurant. We tried their lucban longganisa bfast and pancit habhab.

Runrio Trilogy Awards Night

I attended the Runrio Trilogy Awards Night last February 20, 2012. This is the gathering of all runners who completed the longest distances in all of the three legs (21k, 21k and 32k). The event was hosted at Decagon Theater - Silver City in Ortigas. Runners who completed the trilogy were all given an Afroman medal and Afroman loyalty shirt. More or less 300 recipients (including me) are present at the gala night.

Special recognition were also given to the fastest, youngest and oldest trilogy finisher. Also, Banjo of ulikblogrunner.wordpress.com receives the best blogger award from Runrio.

Below are some photos from the event.

I've been in CORON!

I was lucky enough to visit Coron, Palawan last month (February 14 to 17). The fare I got for Busuanga via Cebu Pacific Airlines is Php 1,181.50 and managed to get tour package for 7 pax (all in) c/o Mommita's Place amounting to Php 5,390 each.

Vacation Highlights

Mt. Tapyas - It was on our first day when we climbed Mt. Tapyas.  To get to the top, you would need to take 700+ steps. The trail to its summit was safe since it was paved and concrete. A huge steel cross is situated at the peak of Mt. Tapyas.

Maquinit Hot Springs - After climbing Mt. Tapyas, we headed to Maquinit Hot Springs to relax and rejuvenate. It  is the only known saltwater hot spring in the Philippines. You can reach the place after your island hopping activity since your boat can duct right near the mangroves or you can reach the resort by land by hiring a tricycle.

Environmental Compliance Certificate at the entrance of the hot spring.
Soothing our tired muscles and feet. SARAP!

Waling Waling Island - Also called Bulog Uno island. Small paradise indeed!

White sandbar!

Banana Island Resort - A beautiful island with not so fine white sand. It even have some dead corals on the shore, aqua shoes is a must here when swimming.

Twin Lagoon - is two salt water lakes separated by a narrow opening. Advisable to go here when it is low tide, you can swim across the narrow opening to get to the other lake. When high tide the opening is completely submerged and you'll have to swim/dive through it.

scared but enjoying the blue water of the lake

Kayangan Lake - also sometimes referred to as Blue Lagoon, is said to be the cleanest lake in the country. We climb approximately 10 minutes worth of steep steps up a small clearing just to see the magnificent view. At the top is the perfect spot from which to take photographs of the place.

Unfortunately, we are not able to visit the Siete Pecados Island, it was raining hard when we arrived at the snorkelling area. On my next visit, it will be my priority on my itinerary.

Next adventure >>>  CDO (November 2012) and El Nido (February 2013)!
