Alaska World Milk Day Run on June 9, 2013

World Milk Day is celebrated on the 1st of June. The first World Milk Day was held in 2001. FAO (the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations) proposed this specific day to focus attention on milk and to publicise activities connected with milk and the milk industry.

The date of 1st June was chosen by FAO because a number of countries were already celebrating a national milk day on or around this time. Since the first World Milk Day was held in 2001, many countries spread throughout the world have participated in the celebrations and the number is growing each year. The fact that many countries choose to do this on the same day lends additional importance to individual national celebrations and shows that milk is a global food.

In line with this, Alaska Milk Corporation joins in the celebration of World Milk Day by organizing the first ever Alaska World Milk Day. One of the activity that they are staging is the Alaska World Milk Day Run. Please read on the details below.
