Run Ortigas 2022: Second Race during pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic forced many people to delay participation in fitness, sports and other physical activities. The closure of fitness facilities, gyms and recreational venues plus the Covid-19 restrictions and locked down on common spaces, kept people from being sporty and active. During those times, I missed the feeling of running a race or joining a funrun.

Luckily, last November 20, I was able to join Run Ortigas 2022. Thanks Ms Vimz for the complimentary racekit! This happened to be my second official run during pandemic (are we still in?) after 711 Run 2022, and perfect timing for my Runrio Trilogy Run Asia - Leg 1 happening on December 4. 

Congratulations to "Ortigas and Co. Ltd Partnership" and Runrio for staging this race. Around 1,300+ runners joined the event. Very fun and organized one!

Here are some of my race observations:

• Route - unusual venue for the race/run, but who I am I to complain since it is walking distance from home? 😄 Unlimited uphill specially along J. Vargas part. I hope more races to be staged in Ortigas considering the proximity to my residence
• Logistics - lots of race marshals and security along the route, race route directions and kilometer markers are visible. 
• Hydration - no cups these time since most of the runners brought their gatorade hydration bottle, an option would be a bottle of mineral provided on hydration stations.
• Finisher's medal - for a 10km run, not a bad one!
• Activity Village - Zumba!!! looks like runner
• Pets on the Run - cutie doggos 😍

My strategy for this race was just to finish it since I slipped in the toilet a day before the run. I still manage to clocked at 1:14.

For online (credit card) registrants: complete race kit will be delivered, sizes will be available
online on a first-come, first-served basis. Delivery of race kit will be on or before May 16, 2014 for
those who will register from April 21 to April 30 and May 25 for those registering from May 1 to 16,
2014.

For pre-paid card registrants: the singlet shall be given upon purchasing the prepaid card, sizes
will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The rest of the race kit will be delivered.
Delivery of race kit will be on or before May 16, 2014 for those who will register from April 21 to
April 30 and May 25 for those registering from May 1 to 16, 2014.

For in-store registrants: complete race kit will be given upon registration for actual runners. Singlet
sizes will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

REMINDERS

1. Registration is on a first-come, first served basis, and may end earlier than the announced
   deadline. Race slots may run out before May 16, 2014.
2. Actual runners who register at the stores will receive their complete race kit upon
   purchase. A Valid ID must be presented upon registration.
3. Those who will be registering for their friends must buy a prepaid card. The singlet will be
   given upon purchase of the prepaid card. The rest of the race kit shall be delivered.
4. Singlet and finisher’s shirt size availability will be on first-come, first-served basis
5. Singlet and finishers shirt sample sizes will be available for fitting at the registration centers.
6. D-Tag will be provided to every participant to get the runner’s accurate time result and must be surrendered to claim the finisher’s item after the race.
7. No BIB, No D-TAG, NO RACE.

2014 RUN UNITED MEDAL SERIES FINISHER'S MEDAL
Each of the 2014 Run United Medal Series Finisher’s medal is a unique medal by itself and at the same time is a unique part of a 3-piece united medal from the Run United Series legs. Register and finish the 21km/21km/21km or 21km/32km/42km of legs 1/2/3 respectively and form the united medal which is the 2014 unique Run United/RunRio Trilogy Series United Medal!

Each leg 1 – 21km, leg 2 – 21km and 32km and leg 3 – 21km and 42km finishers will get to receive a 3 inch-radius united medal like this:

If a runner finishes all three legs in the category 21km/ 21km/ 21km or 21km/ 32km/ 42km, he/she will be able to form this united medal.
